Exhaust donut sleeve

72 302. I am installing the exhaust on the car and using the original factory exhaust manifolds. I have manifolds for a 73 and a 72. My question is the 72 manifolds had no sleeve to center the exhaust donuts on the 73 it had sleeves that the donut fits over which I assume is to center the donut. Anyway, do I need them or was it a 73 only thing?

IIRC, the sleeves were usually formed as part of the Y-pipe, or a separate section welded in. If you have them, use them.
