Wow that car is beyond perfect for what I want.

So it looks like I need to sell the 73. I'd love to keep both but I just can't do the space.

So big question, what can my 73 go for in Cali? It does run and drive

1500 to 2500 or so, my car was rougher than yours and 3 years later I wouldn't think of selling it, granted I've got ALOT of time and money into it. Thing is I was never a big 71-73 fan but almost immediately after buying one started finding out how cool and different they really are. Everytime the car gets driven it always gets positive response which makes it all worth it.

I think that the problem that I have is I just don't love the car. It's a cool car and I've really enjoyed the process of working on it, but when I think classic mustang that I'd like to own, it's just not the 73 that comes to mind.

In terms of the bodywork, I think what frustrates me is feeling so lost with it. I've read some books but it's not the same as having someone experienced come guide me through it.

I don't mind the welding part, I bought my own welder and I've actually done quite a bit before this, so that doesn't bother me.

Oddly enough what I'd really want is a 1976 Mustang II Cobra. Call me crazy but there's just something about them.

Mach71351c when you did the patch in front of the wheel well, how did you secure the bottom edge to the rocker?

I used SEM two part adhesive.
Good luck with your search for good cobra II. Just remember The cobra II will have to be SMOGED !! California is not getting any easier with there smog laws. Chances are you will have to take it to a "test only station". Believe me if it's not "stock" they will give you hard time. Ask me how I know. I go threw the Bull crap every two years with my 89 GT. I have to prove to them what mods are Carb legal. This is the biggest reason why I will be putting my GT up for sale after the 50th.

Well that passed in short order.

Seems I was having a weak and lazy moment, I didn't want to take the time to mess with the body and I wanted to get to the fun stuff (the part where the car is basically perfect and I can start messing around with the motor)

But here I am, about a week later, and I've taken tomorrow off from work to spend the day with the car. I'm going to see this thing back onto the road if it's the last thing I do. I don't want to add another failed restoration to my belt.

Thanks for all the kind words an encouragement from all here. This community is truly amazing and one I am proud to be a part of.

If I'm lucky I'll get the car road worthy in time for the Ford Show down at Knotts. If not, I still plan to head down there to try and meet some other members!

My mustang was like that when i got it but with some miner wielding, a crap load of bondo, and months of sanding i got it pretty close to what i wanted :p but then again i'm just a 16 yo with his first car. i wasn't necessarily going for show quality. My eyes are on the engine.
