Multiple Mustangs!
North Carolina has backed off on having events a little. So the MOM had a First Generation Mustang show yesterday. I got the player piano I went and got on Tuesday out of the car trailer on Friday afternoon and loaded up the 1973 Mach 1. As you have seen on the news we were hit hard with the gas pipeline shut down. Our fuel comes by pipe to Spartanburg, S.C. and is then blended into what ever brand they want. All the gas is the same just some additives put in once to Spartanburg.
On Friday I went to a dozen stations before I found anyone with fuel and filled up. I have two five gallon containers in shop so if none in Charlotte or Concord I could make it without having to buy any. I get about 9.5 mpg pulling the trailer with car.
My poor old F-150 5.4 gas PU has over 308,000 miles and has only had a thermostat, one set of plugs, fuel pump and transmission fluid changed once. It will die soon.
So anyway I made it down and back was not but 9 Mustangs there and of course I was only 71 - 73. Couple things probably took others away the Charlotte Motor Speedway is only about a mile from the MOM. They had their first Cars & Coffee yesterday also since Covid. Then just across the street NHRA was having the Z-Max drag race. That is the three wide strip so quite loud with three AA fuel cars running.
There were a couple 71 - 73 Mustangs in the museum a nice white on white on white Grande 1973. Also a Mach 1 and of course hood done wrong, 71 or 72. Where they moved the museum is much smaller than the other one but for sure less cost. They continually cycle in different models. There were several visitors form other states, Penn. and Calif. during the show.
It was a peoples choice so any visitors got to vote on their favorite and the poppy red 1964 1/2 original owner coupe won. There was also a 64 1/2 with a mustang trailer. I have the rear of a 72 vert I was going to also do this way but have a different set up to cover the seats when pulling and also a beach umbrella for shade.
A few phone pics. We all pitched in some money and Steve, owner of museum, went and go chicken and fries and bread and we set up table in the shade and had a picnic.
The VIN#4 Worlds Fair Mustang is still there but most others have been changed out.
