I was looking for some info on the power brake booster and found this simplified video on youtube explaining how they work. It is simplified so you do not get lost in the presentation. He is instructor at automotive school in Australia.

I do not remember which member had the issue with the rear brakes heating up. I did a search but never did find the right one. I do not remember if we talked about setting the push rod length on the brake booster or not. This could be what is causing your issue. If you changed the master cylinder or booster and did not set the length can cause brakes to overheat due to the master cylinder being compressed slightly. The Ford manual does go into this you might need to verify your settings.
