Fuel Line Attachment

I was removing the fuel line from underneath the car and came across a number of attachments as in the photo.
I tried to twist the knob on the top with pliers and got about 20 degrees. Didn't want to put any more pressure on it for fear of breaking something.
Has anybody else come across fuel line clips like these?

I think you have to put something in the gap of that retainer, and pry it apart. As I remember, that clip is installed by putting the retainer through the clip, squeezed by players. The result is what you see. It’s not removed by rotating it. Others with more experience will chime in.

I think Steve is right. Spreading the tabs apart should cause the retainer to collapse inward on the opposite end and be free to come out of the hole in the floor pan. A wire cutter tool may help in spreading the tabs by wedging them apart. An alternative would be to get access to the top side under the carpet/underlayment and use pliers to collapse the retainer. I suspect the retainer isn't reusable may times due to corrosion and or eventual metal fatigue. I don't know if that part is being reproduced or otherwise available.
Functionally a screw and nut would work as a replacement, although access would be needed to the top side of the floor pan. A "rivnut" installed from the fuel line side would permit holding the fuel line clip in place with a screw and eliminate the need to access the top side.

Exactly right. take a blade screwdriver and put the blade between the two ridges. Turn the screwdriver left and right to spread the gap apart. It should pull out of the body hole easily. These things can many times be reused, but I always like to replace old, dirty, rusty parts. Those fasteners are actually kinda Ingenius.

Thanks Guys, I'll get into them with my separator and let you know how I go.
I kinda like them and would like to put them back if they are in good condition.

I'd like to thank all of you guys for your input. If it wasn't for you I would have done something stupid like drilled them out or worse cut them off with an angle grinder.

Even better they come with a couple of little rubber hats as washers for the holes.

Right on vern. I've been working on my property. Still buy a few things but not pigging anymore. I need this stuff gone but the time.......I will keep the red car. Butch E wants the white car. I have a few more "issues" on 4 tires. Semi retired. I collect a "loan" payment. All is well. Nothing unhelthy going on that is new. Just artritis and a big pen...i mean belly. New # 3 zero 3 3 eight 6 6 two two 8.

Arthritis is a ***** and as a friend of mine says, 'growing older isn't for sissies'.
I find I do appreciate the basic things in life a bit more and can't wait to I get MY red car on the road and drive it around with my top off.
