Boy do I feel stupid.

I just picked up a new gas cap with security cable for my 73.

While I was a little concerned about someone stealing it, I was more concerned that the rubber seal on the old cap was a little dry and there was a gas smell after a refuel for a while.

So now I have the new cap with cable and can't figure out how the cable gets attached. I first thought that maybe the security screw replaces the existing screw on the neck, but it doesn't look like it.

Any ideas?

You take out one of the screws and replace with the stud which has a nut on one end...see pic.

Just FYI - The one with the cable is best (for security reasons) but not stock/concourse correct. I think the cabled ones are correct for 69/70 but otherwise they are the same cap as the non-cabled 71-3's.
