Group 24F battery tray needed.

I have a 5 year old battery that I'm going to replace. It's a "24F'.

My car is a plain jane 302 with the a/c removed and no big draw items in the electric system.

Years ago, when I was rehabbing the car, I bought a new battery tray. I find out now that it is for a 27F battery, and being that I am going to stay with the 24F, I want to get a tray for  24F.

The part number I have is D00Z-10723-A, but this comes up for a 69-70. Will this tray fit a 72?

I’ve got the same issue. The tray that came out of my car was for a group 24F, and the tray I bought was the larger version like the one Don posted a link to.

CJ has two different trays, and I asked for the dimensions of the one that appears to be for group 24f.

Hopefully they review and answer the question soon

I have a new extra one that would like to sell if interested. I can measure it if you want.

I bought one when i was fixing my battery apron rust but ended up using the original since it was in good shape.

At one time I found the exact measurements for the 24F and the 27F trays, but I can't find them now. I DID find "ballpark" measurements for the 27F tray and they are 12 or 13 x 7, so if what you have is smaller, it might work.

Go to ebay and Daniel Carpenter has seconds on his site. They are made from the Ford tooling. I got one and looks just like original. Will see if I can find I just bought it because a good deal for future build. I think I have NOS Ford with the sticker still on if you want to pay a lot, lol.

I just went and looked up link here it is. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-71-FAIRLANE-TORINO-1971-73-MUSTANG-BATTERY-TRAY-NEW-FORD-TOOLING/121497719426?hash=item1c49d41282:g:2egAAOSwD0lUc5~~:rk:1:pf:0

Ad say Ford # is D002-10732-B $21.95 They have always answered my emails questions quick. They have 100% rating with 4250 sales.

Oh BTW the reinforcement that goes under the inner fender apron that the battery tray bolts to is also back on for $30.00. I have ordered and great part here is link.

It's unlikely the 65-66 will fit. If it did Ford would have left the part number for earlier ones for 71-73.

The 27F tray is dual purpose, 24Fs will fit it fine, they just don't fill up the full length.

Thanks for your response, but this is the same one I have now, for a 27F. If I can't get a 24F tray, I'll prolly just get a 27F replacement battery. The battery I have in there now is a 24F and fits, but the hold down brackets don't line up right because of the smaller size battery on a larger tray.

It's not a big deal, but just wanted to get it all paired up correctly over the winter......
