73 Grande will undergo three phase build process. Phase 1 is complete (driver). Phase 2 is interior/exterior restoration. Phase 3 is ++ performance.
Was wondering, since I don’t have one to touch and check, does someone know the diameter of the H Pipe segment of the exhaust system, if the main pipes are 2.5”? I want to include one in my stick build and do not need to conduct the engineering analysis to determine it‘s size. Was thinking a 2” H Pipe would do it. More experienced thoughts?

I have heard everything from 67% of exhaust pipe size up to 100% of the exhaust pipe size. I use the 100% sizing method. There is also debate on what size the hole in the exhaust pipe should be. I use about 90% to ensure a solid weld. Placement should be, according to many, between 8 and 18 inches form the end of the collector. In reality it comes down to where you have the room to put it. A cross over any where is better than none at all. Chuck

Thanks Chuck. I’ll map out a spot between those dimensions to see what I’ve got to work with. With shorty headers, I suspect it might be further back.

I agree, a 2" crossover pipe should be sufficient. I believe that every "H" pipe I have seen, either factory or aftermarket, have a smaller diameter crossover pipe. They do not carry the full exhaust pulses, just help the equalize the pressures and help with exhaust reversion, as well as improve efficiency and reduce the staccato effect when running loud mufflers.

This set up is with 1 7/8” Sanderson’s and SS Magnaflows and a C4.
It all depends where you find the space to install the X or H… Good luck with your setup!
