heater control knobs ?

i just got a heater control assembly and i just want to use the switch out of it. is there a way to remove the chrome knobs so i can use my old assembly? thanks for any help.

+1 for Don's suggestion. They are installed by pressure, all you need to do is pull them out. Sometimes they're pretty stubborn from being attached so many years. But no hidden fasteners or secret codes... just good ol' arm power.
