My Car
1973 Mach One
351C
Hi!
I am new to the group but have had a 1973 H code Mach One off and on since 1981. I bought the car as a junior in high school back in Colorado where I did a little bracket racing at Bandimere Speedway with it. It had been repainted by the previous owner after a minor fender bender. After high school I found a set of 4V heads at a swap meet and overhauled the engine but had to put the car in storage during college.

10 years later I was living out of state, just starting a family and had no garage, so I gave the car to a friend who was interested in restoring it. 20 years later he had not had a chance to finish the car, so he gave it back!

Now I do have a garage and plan to restore the car with my teen age son. I would like to replace the C6 with a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission and probably upgrade the front and rear suspension.

The car is still in Colorado, waiting for some machine work on the engine but I hope to have it in Florida this year.

I have been reading the daily posts here for a week or so and am very impressed with the work being done and the knowledge shared!

Welcome from Illinois. Great that you were able to reunite with your car and hold on to it.

Welcome to Florida from west central Florida. Good to have you a part of the group. All the best in restoring your 73 with your son. My oldest son and I restored our respective Mustangs together. His: a Gold 1968 GT, 390-4v, S Code; mine: a Grabber lime, 1971 Mach 1, M Code, 351-4v.

Nice Car

Hello and Welcome from Michigan. Hope you get it back on the road!
Hey John...haven’t seen you at Lakeside all last year...you’ll recognize my car by the thumbnail picture to the left...we’re wondering how you’ve been...Craig

Hey Craig,
Yes I recognized your car. It was either too hot or I had something else going on Monday evenings. But the main reason was I fell into a fire pit and got hurt really bad. Was in the hospital with some 2nd and 3rd degree burns and stitches and staples in my left arm. Had to have surgery. Anyway I’m ok and I will get up there this year.

Hey, it was a good plan to give the car to your friend ;)
Well, again another nice story, welcome.
