Ignition Actuator Problem

I have a 72 Mach1 with tilt steering. I replaced the upper steering column bearing as it was very worn. During the process the key lock is removed. However when i removed the "upper cover casing" the upper actuator dis-engaged from the drive gear.

No matter how I try I can not get the gear in the right place. So I can start the engine, but as soon as i release the key the engine stops.

I know it is to do with the alignment of the gear and actuator, cant see how to set it up correctly.

Help

thank you in advance

Thank you guys for the info.

Does anyone have a close up view of the Actuator and the gear drive, as it has different tooth locations, some being flat. It needs to mesh with the correct teeth. I have tried different positions and still cant quite get it to sit in the right place.
