what is the better tranny....C6 or the FMX?? in 72 351C 4V
Well, Bill, in other venues it might take a fistfight to settle that question! :dodgy:
I just recently read a variety of info about the FMX (which I've got in the 'vert), the C4 and the C6. While others here with more knowledge and experience will chime in, here's the lowdown on what I learned: depending upon the application (strip, track, daily driver, weekend cruiser, etc.) all are good trannies. The FMX is good, and some swear BY it and others swear AT it because parts can be hard to come by and rebuilds can be expensive. The C4 is somewhat more "beefy" and some people find them easier to maintain because they are more common. The C6 was often found in trucks and other heavy duty applications, but they weigh significantly more than the FMX. Does that help much? Probably not, but to some degree, from my research, it's a little like asking what is the best color for a 73 Convertible? If I say "blue", am I wrong?
(Easy, fellow 'vert owners, just making an analogy here.
)
Others with more tranny knowledge will chime in shortly, I'm sure.
