I recently purchased the "amps converted to volts" gauge from Rocketman for my '71.

The item was delivered very quickly, packaged as carefully as any item I think I have ever purchased, and looks like a brand-new part.

Included was a very nicely-made easy to follow and understand instruction/ installation sheet, and even a nice ballpoint pen with Rocketman's ad blurb on it.

I can't wait to install it.

This guy is a pleasure to do bid'ness with!

Highly recommended...

I've ordered the tach conversion, amp meter conversion ( voltmeter )and headlight relays from RCCI. They were always packed very well along with good instructions. The turnaround was also very quick. I would certainly recommend him if you're needing any of these items.

Augh!!! :dodgy:

I've been needing to send my instrument cluster and center gauges to him since last year. Crap!

OK - I will get it all boxed up tonight and send it out tomorrow.

'Grats, Kit. I'll bet it's freaken awesome. ::thumb::

What is the deal with the tach "conversion"? My car has been running a Duraspark ignition since 1979 and the tach has always worked well with no issues.

My car was a "Speedo/Clock" car... I had no tach from the factory. I had bought a complete wiring harness and "Speedo/Tach" cluster when I first started my project, but later found them out to be out of a '73.

It's my understanding that it's a major PITA to adapt a "Speedo/Tach" cluster into a Non-tach cluster wiring harness.

So, my plan is to have him remove the clock, swap-in one of his cool conversion tachs, test my center gauges, and convert the Ammeter to Volt Meter. I'd rather have a tach than a dash clock... not to mention I have a full center console now that also has a clock. ;) :D

I've heard there's a problem with factory tach cars and getting them to work with any kind of electronic ignition that's not made up of points and came with the car. I know there are ways around it, but I also know there are ways to fry things like tachs and center gauges if they're not done properly.

I had mine converted because I went with a MSD ignition (6AL) and the factory tach does not work without using an additional adaptor. I believe that it has something to do with the tach output from the 6AL is a +12v square wave at some specified duty cycle which I am not quite sure of. On a side note the 6AL produces a 6 second tach output at key on of the rev limit you set, 6000 rpm in my case so that you can see what the limit is set at. The converted tach was spot on when I installed it so I can say that its pretty accurate. I have heard that the OEM tach is not very accurate but I have never checked into it.

He converted my factory tach. He also replaced the needle. I had him do it so that the tach did not become a potential failure point and I needed to replace the needle anyways.

Great service. Great turnaround and fantasic packing.

Not really, if you know what you're doing. I've converted about 25% of the 300+ harnesses from standard dash to tach (67 on up). The biggest problem is finding a tach dash cluster and the right circuit card.

Not to take away from Rocketman: he has a very good reputation and customer service. Hard to find, nowadays.

I'm pretty sure I could've done it... but then again, the '73 harness didn't match up to everything on my '71 - it had no center gauge cluster, for instance. Besides, it was only the dash and engine compartment portions anyway - so, it's not like it would've been a complete replacement. ;) :D
