A couple video's of the start on the Pastel Blue J Code restoration. Disregard some of the commentary, as I was to learn, some of what I mentioned was not accurate when the car made it's way to the body and paint restoration shop (regarding how some of the damage occurred...). The third video is the car running in the garage basically...completed. Looking back, you wonder how you ever got yourself into such a project. For those in the midst, reflecting back to these early day's makes it all worthwhile when they are finally finished. Keep at 'er!

Cool man, your car turned out really nice! Now for the spare tire trunk bracket can you tell me how many inches (measured from the tail light panel) does this bracket mount? Mine was removed a long time ago, I have the bracket but in order to weld it back in I need the exact location where it goes. Thanks!

Is this the car of the web site user with the name Pastel Blue, or are you just referring to the color of the car? What ever happened to that guy? I must have missed whatever drama occurred. I don't believe we ever saw the end of that project.

"Looking back, you wonder how you ever got yourself into such a project" - I know that feeling... :-/

He IS "Pastel Blue" ... ;)

It doesn't matter what happened in the past. It should always be about the cars. This Pastel Blue vert is a true masterpiece and 7173Vert should be commended for an excellent restoration of this rare car..... My hat is off to him !!!

Thanks, Jay

That guy is still kicking... and this is that car as other's here have noted. Not so much as being drama as being my need to focus on completing the car at that time, as I believed it should be done; without the "drama" some choose bring into their comments. I believe if someone is willing to post the progress of their car's here, what ever that may be, respect is shown at all times. That's it. Cheers

Don,

You are well represented in this car... Cheers

Wow - that car came out great.  I'm glad to see the completed video of the car because we were all following it closely.  You did an amazing job there.  How are things with your green 73 vert?

Ah very good then, so you just have a new user account.  I was hoping to see the end of that project.  I recall following along and then the updates stopped.  The collector that I bought my '71 Mach 1 J code from has a red '71 429 convertible.  I know there aren't too many of them around, to say the least.  ;)

Car looks and sounds amazing!!! I was hoping you would come back and post some completed pics.
Thanks. Sometimes, we need to take a step back and focus... this car was near killing me for a time... I will post a better video with the car outside the garage, soon, hopefully.

Thanks. The'73 has been great this summer... it is just ready to roll over 50K original miles soon... Should do so before she is put away for the winter. I did a lot of maintenance work on this car last winter to get her ready and it paid off, for sure.

Yes, only 42 produced. How many survive today???...

When I saw this post, I was totally confused. Were there two 71 429 Pastel Blue verts being restored, or just one? Did it get sold to another new member?

But now I see the light! Very confusing to most of us, but wow what a job you did there. THAT is a car to be proud of for sure. I too had been following your posts on the resto and so glad to see it finished.

Well done,

Geoff.

A little confusion keeps us on our toes... Not that confusing really? Leave site, come back under a new name that incorporates both of my Mustangs. If it was another Pastel Blue J Code Vert, that would be the 2nd of only 4 produced, ever. No chance of it getting sold... I have had a few people contact me or friend me on Facebook with the sole purpose of trying to purchasie the car. They are no longer my Facebook “friends”...
