Ok,

I have a oem ford 8 track in my 71 and would very much like to keep it, however I want MORE.

Would like to add mp3 and fm.

I am aware that one can get a 8 track to cassette adapter and from cassette to mp3.

I am wanting to make the converter and house it in a gutted 8 track tape with an auxiliary jack to plug directly into a mp3 player or even house the mp3

in the gutted 8 track tape, just need some instructions and a schematic.

What can we come up with here ?

Yes Don,

That is what I want to do, only with the ford 8 track unit.

I would very much like to put all the electronics in a gutted 8 track tape.

have seen bits and pieces but nothing with a wiring schematic or instructions.

The attached is a scan of the repair manual for 73 AM/8Track. Do not know if anything there to help. I think maybe it is already on the site I did not search. I have couple cars with 8 track.

OH well cannot attach because I am over my limit, lol. Have to clean out something with pics I guess.

Don,

The spridgetguru link is very close, but pretty sure one can accomplish the same thing by putting a tape head in a gutted 8 track cartridge.

Then no internal modifications would have to the ford stereo.
