Great work! Hopefully mine will turn out as well as yours.

Nice project, keep up the good work! Ryan

Great to see you taking to bare metal. On one of the facebook forums a so called expert is saying just sand the old paint and paint over it. Not very professional in my opinion. I have been stripping lots of parts and have not found any that did not have surface rust buried under the original Ford paint.

On the Q vert the PO had the body dipped stripped and was back to rolling chassis with primer. I was block sanding the RF fender and saw some color so I got DA and yep he had switched fenders and it had not been stripped. When I got down to metal there was the usual rust. Parts sat around for weeks back then JIT and FIFO had not kicked in. Even with that parts sit in rework areas for weeks at a time. 50 year old paint is not what you want to put a few thousand dollars in new paint on for sure. Keep on sanding.

finally got some time to work on the mustang now that outside projects have come to a end with weather and time change.  Final blocked the roof/quarters and coated in epoxy to keep sealed until paint. The doors just need final blocked yet.   I just finished the filler work on the fenders /hood this weekend.. I then shot some epoxy on those pieces followed by a few coats of 2k to allow some blocking.

I also got the seat upholstery done  and put back together.
hopefully I can keep motivated and find the time to maybe get some color on it in the near future.

Finally got the 71 painted this weekend.

I haven’t worked on it in a while as I’ve had some other projects going on. Decided last week to finish prepping it and took it in to my work this weekend to paint.  Need to paint the front bumper / valance panels yet and cut and buff the paint.   Then need to find the time to start to reassemble

Some more pics after cut and buff. Used Ppg concept single stage then 3 coats of spi universal clear. Really makes it look deep

Sprayed the matte black on the underside and all the aprons in the engine compartment.  Lot of assembly left but that’s the fun part IMO...  only thing I’ve been struggling with is installing the headliner.  I did a few myself years ago but have sent out the last couple to a pro.  I’ll mess with it a little more but will probably have to let a pro do it 🤷‍♂️🤣
