Not sure if I am putting this in the correct place.  I found someone selling a  71 Mach I 351 2v auto but it needs complete restoration.  Think strip down. The interior is mostly missing. Cowl is solid but at least passenger floorboard needs replaced and trunk floor. Dash is there but needs to be gone over. Fold down rear seat option. Medium gold yellow or something like that (somewhat orange looking). One full size qtr replaced. Other qtr looks to have the typical cancer and needs to be replaced.  Asking price is 2k. Is that reasonable? I have a complete interior from a 72 sprint but would need fold down (it is not in good shape). Seller has other parts and may be able to get a few items thrown in. Looking for opinions. It is local so I would not need to pay shipping

Are the front fenders included in the deal and what condition? How about all of the glass, replacing that can add up pretty fast.

Has the cowl been replaced? That is the usual reason for the passenger side floor rotted out.

The cowl rusts out around the vent hat above the heater box, which isn't visible in those pictures, you either have to look in the vent holes in front of the windshield or under the dash.

Here is a picture of what you are looking for. Make sure you check both sides. Easy to see with a flash light. Big question is how much are you willing to put into the car. As Don C said it adds up fast.

Are you looking for a project car ? You said you have a Sprint interior, would only look appropriate in a Sprint. I have two Sprints , one coupe and one sportsroof. Coupe is a driver and the SR needs restoration.

Sprint was referenced to say I have some of the parts. I took out dash and complete interior. I will keep upholstery that makes sense (not trashed). I would like 2 get a SR sprint someday.

When I restore a car, I do much of the work myself, except for spraying the paint because I don't have a paint booth. I touch every part in the car. If it has minimal rust and all the parts are there to start with, it costs me about $20K to do one, plus the cost of the car. I restore cars because I enjoy it (well not so much on the body work portion). You can probably find a decent car for less than you would end up putting in this one, so it depends on how bad you want it.

I have a complete matching number Sprint SR that I would sell for $2,500 pm if interested

u say seller is local.... goooo there and look and ask questions... that car needs everything... glass is a very good question.. the rear glass is missing (ain't cheap).. i'm with "r-trash" on this... i can see 20k investment and u'd be better off spending 10k and get a 6 month head start with better body or way more parts.. but with all said and done if this is something u would really like doing the do it... it's only time and money ,when u go the beyond u can't take it with u..
