I have no road feel in my steering. Dunno if this qualifys as a problem or not.

Everything is new and/or rebuilt in the front end and steering. The only origonal piece there is the drag link.

The steering is tight, no play, but there is no resistance in the steering wheel when I turn, almost like I am taking off ( rotating), in the car and the front, (nose), wheels are just leaving the runway.

The steering is responsive like I said, with no play. Maybe I'm looking for trouble.

My daily driver is an '02 Buick Century land yacht and the steering is much different, as is the '14 VW Passat.:huh:

Also what size wheels and tires are on the front of the car? IMO classic original parts cars feel that way for the most part.

My opinion is the front end alignment.. If caster is not set correctly, the front wheels will not want to return to center. Secondly, even though the steering linkage is tight, the P/S box may need to be adjusted for "road feel". Both input and sector shaft adjustment is necessary..

Its Just the way it was back then. Everybody just use to todays quick steering ratio. Piper correct about proper alignment for return to center and a also non bearing Idler arm.

+1 on red351's post. All the old cars were over boosted. You may change the flow rate to increase effort but, it won't increase "road feel". There are too many "slack points" that isolate the steering wheel from the tires. Chuck

mine has great feel-of course I have manual steering and 255's on the front. If it were a daily driver I'd have Popeye's forearms.

I previously had a coupe with power steering-25+years ago, and it felt numb as all get out. Drove and handled just fine.

That is what my steering felt like. I say felt because I am doing a full mechanical rebuild of mine, so I don't know how it will drive once I'm done. If I remember correctly, most cars from that era had over assisted steering. You can literally steer the car with one fingertip. I would think the only way to add "feel" is to go manual steering like Jeff73Mach1 has or change the system for something else. I know there is a so-called upgrade that uses a Borgeson box that CJ pony parts sells but I don't know how much it really improves steering because there are no reviews. Like you, my system is new so I am not looking to spend more money on more new parts.

+1 on that::thumb::

Same here Manual steering but with 245's and full sot coilover conversion.

It's amazing what a great workout it really is around town, but no sweat on the highways.

You really can feel, Your driving the car, and at the end of a long drive you do feel it in your arms BUT it's a great feeling nothing like it. Truly in touch with the road and your car. ::thumb::
