Hello and greetings from So Cal. My son and I just picked up a '72 Fastback project car. It's a solid car so far with very little rust and so far everything in pretty good shape. It's a 351C, 4V car. The previous owner had started a conversion from auto to T56 Magnum 6 speed. So the car has no trans in it right now, but we got it running and it came with the new trans in a box and pretty much all the parts needed to complete the conversion, including a hydraulic clutch kit.
I'm handy but very rusty as it's been probably 25+ years since I've wrenched on something with a carb or anything that needs a lot of attention for that matter. So we are trying to figure out if we want to do the trans swap ourselves or have someone help. As with any car like this, it needs about a million parts all over, so keeping this affordable (cheap) is key right now as I really couldn't afford the car in the first place. Reasonably sure I can get the trans installed as I've done that a few times. Less sure about getting my fat *** under the dash to work on that clutch pedal setup. If I do attempt that, it should make for a good youtube video.
Anyway, just wanted to check in as the latest noob with a soon to be great car.
