Anyone know where you can obtain NOS windshield or at least a manufacturer of classic car glass that is made to the specifications of the original?

Here you go...this is an OEM windshield meaning it is manufactured to meet or exceed original manufacturer standards. Made by PGW which is a higher end glass. You can't beat the price and they have outlets across the country where you can pick up.

Says pickup in Daytona Beach only??

Thanks, I did see this one earlier but that's a non-starter for me.

Just looking at the NPD catalog, they list Carlite and Ford logoed glass as official Carlit glass , not a generic with a Carlite stamp. Looks like they don't have logoed glass for the fastback though.

A quick "buyer-be-ware". When I had my car stripped and repainted, the old original glass was very pitted, so I allowed my paint guy to order a new windshield. It took 7 (yes seven) windshield before they got one that actually fitted. Chinese junk!! If it were not for the trouble and time to go to NPD, I would have bought US made glass. I still may, kinda wish I had.

So apparently Carlite glass is available, but maybe not for the fastback if one wants the Carlite stamp.

I think you can take that with a pinch of salt. 90 Bucks for a windshield, OEM at that!! Hmmm, how much was that swamp land again!!

I have purchased glass for both my 72 and 67 from these guys. They will also etch with correct logo and date you specify.

Agree! Nothing but good experiences with PS Autoglass.

Thanks I will give them a try and see what happens.

Well my experience wasn't too great. I talked to Paul the owner and seemed like a decent guy. Ordered a windshield but just as my specialist was getting ready to install, he noticed a blemish (a rippling) on the passenger side. Called and talked to him about this, he agreed to try another vendor he worked with. Well that windshield came back to them broken and he had his secretary leave me a message about this and said there wasn't anymore windshields for the forseeable future. I called, left messages, sent emails over two weeks trying to get some sort of explanation and understanding on how I could have gotten the last two 1972 Fastback windshields in the country and both were defective. I truly believe Paul is a good guy however, getting a hold of them when your order doesn't work out is very difficult. I've moved on and ordered, I hope, a windshield from Metro Auto Glass who has told me that they have a network of vendors that make glass to the original specs. My shield has just shipped (about $100 less) so we'll see whether this entire adventure was worth it. Should have stayed with the sandblasted glass I have now although it's not noticeable until your driving east into the morning sun.

Hope this one works out. I got lucky and there is a local guy in town here who does nothing but classics for glass. He came out and looked at the car prior to ordering anything then gave me a couple options of places to order from. Went with a PGW Sunshade solex. He was very happy and had no problem with me hanging out watching him do the install. Plus I was able to polish up the trim while he was prepping. Fit perfect.

I wish I knew of a better source for good windshields here in Canada. If you read back, you'll see where it took SEVEN Chinese (I assume) windshields to get on that fitted the curve of the body correctly. Very frustrating, but it is what it is for now. You are so lucky with the stuff you can get with relative ease in the US.

73Pony....tks, I have actually tried PGW but they do not have any 1972 Fastback Windshields, they do have the on for coupes and verts but not the fastback. Still waiting on the Metro Auto Parts glass to arrive and my windshield installer. You see all these shows and stuff that restore cars and I wonder where the hell they are getting glass from that fits correctly - most important dimension of non-NOS glass is the thickness otherwise the trim doesn't fit or look right unless these restorers are modifying the trim.

Just a FYI

The convertible and coupe glass is the same

What the glass companies call a coupe is for the fastbacks

I live in Florida and went to Daytona Beach to pick up my windshield.. The company tells you to bring plenty of blankets and will put the windshield in your vehicle and help with placing it correctly on the padding for you. Great prices and very good product. I have not seen any distortion in the glass at all.. Very happy with the price and service.
