Passenger Side Glass

Question for the experts. My 73 Mach 1 is getting delivered sunday. First thing I need to do is fix the passenger window. The glass and regulator are good, but its sitting in the door. What do I need to be prepared to reattach it? Everything I have seen shows 3 bushings/rivets to hold it in. I am thinking I can just use small bolts/washers this time and I should be good to go. Does this sounds right or is it more in depth than that?

Ford changed to the riveted brackets and stops in '73. More often than not, the issue is the roller for the window regulator breaking and dropping out of the track on the bracket. Dorman sells a replacement roller/axle setup for a few dollars. You can get it at a local parts store if you prefer.

Will definitely keep you updated! The man I’m buying it from said he had the part, I’m just getting prepared for it possibly being something else. I’ve done a regulator before, just seeing what I was getting myself into with the glass part

Alright here’s what I’ve got. The part the guy included was a blue circle type roller, which from what I’ve seen is for an older window regulator. I got the square roller, but it is a nut/bolt style. Do I just need to drill this out?

You *might* be able to pop the roller off the ball stud and onto the original. I haven't tried it, but if you want to experiment....

That was definitely a thought, but my fear was that if I do somehow get it popped off, it will either crack or will rattle around on the new one. At least this gives me an excuse to finally buy a dremel. My 30 minute window fix has turned into a couple day project. Never works how you draw it up! At least I have the correct roller now though.

Well a couple hours later finally got the old one drilled out! The little dremel from harbor freight was put to work. Greased it up and works great! I definitely need to replace these “guides”? Going out on a limb for the name.

Thank you! I actually saw this on NPD when I was looking for that roller, but didn’t think anything of it at the time.

Be sure to clean all the old dried up grease out of the tracks and off the guide rod, and it'll be like new when you're done.

The glass comes out pretty easy…after removing a few guides and possibly weatherstripping, 3 nuts, then lift/slide the back up and out, pivot the front toward the rear of the door and lift straight up to allow the white disk mounted on glass to come out top of door at rear…it’s a small dance, but not hard…
