Can anyone tell me what goes here and a part name/number/source? I am pretty sure it is the crankcase breather filter but there are 2 holes not one. Thanks in advance.
Tom

Hello Tom,
You already have some great info, so I'll list some additional numbers and part names to help your search. As sheriff41 posted, the rear hole is the location for the crankcase emissions filter. The single notch is for the anti-rotation tab on the emissions filter housing. The filter and housing assy is Ford part # D1ZZ-9D695-A (Motorcraft FA-87), and the filter is D0OZ-9D697-A (Motorcraft FA-104). These are readily available at the parts stores, and the keyboard warrior should be able to cross the Ford/Motorcraft numbers. The filter is retained in the air cleaner housing with a metal clip (D1AZ-9E628-A). There is a crankcase vent hose elbow (384411-S) that is attached to the hose stub on the emissions filter. The hose from the rear valve cover cap attaches to the 384411-S.
A fuel vapor purge tube adapter fits the second hole with two notches. The adapter (DOAZ-9D692-C) locks into the dual notches. A corrugated foil paper-lined tube connects the 9D692 adapter to the blue vapor recovery canister. The early versions had a 45° angle, and the replacing versions had a 90° angle. These are no longer available from Ford; to my knowledge, no one reproduces this part. I haven't seen any online in some time, and when they were, they were usually priced like precious metals.

Let me know if you need any of the above-listed part numbers or help to find them. :)
