- 1971 mustang Mach 1, 429CJ, J Code SOLD 3/2016
1971 Boss 351 Mustang
Medium Yellow Gold
From Kim Miller Collection
I finally got around to installing a new rear defrost switch on my 71 Mach 1. I had been looking for the proper bezel removal tool which no longer exist.
I ended up buying the Scott Drake Part # T-67-BK, 1967 Mustang convertible top switch removal tool. I found that it was not deep enough but the little prongs matched the defrost bezel perfectly.
I ended up drilling out the aluminum bezel tool to make enough room for the switch stalk/lever/handle whatever you want to call it. Worked just fine and is a lot easier than using a screwdriver or needle nose pliers which you are likely to cause damage. That last turn to make the switch tight to the dash is the hardest and that is where having this tool grabbing all four notches in the bezel nut really came in handy!
Hope this tip helps someone.
