We noticed that the PO of our 1971 Mach 1 must have been in an accident and had the repair done by an absolute *****.  They flattened out the shaped detent for the rear bumper (I do acknowledge my own mental deficiency for not noticing this for 3 years).

Anyone have a quarter panel cutout they can part with?

Thanks,
Nick

I have a repro one here near Atlanta, Ga, might cost a ton to ship it.  It’s the back half of a full quarter I cut up… you might be better off buying the part from NPD and you might need an additional part….mine is convertible part, might not fit….

depending on how far you have to cut you might need this, not sure if it’s part of the repair part above:

Alternatively you could play around with a hammer and dolly to see if you can get an acceptable shape again?
I thought of that, but given that it's a compound shape, I have more faith in my welding than my metalworking.  On that note, what do I have to lose.

The convertible and fastback quarters are most assuredly different, but I suspect the detent is the same.

I didn't realize NPD had just the bottom part of the quarter.  That may be a good way to go too.
