I think the noise is from my FMX transmission. It is a screeching noise like metal fingernails on a metal chalkboard. At 80 MPH on the highway is get louder, but still comes and goes. I tried tapping the brakes or taking my foot off the accellerator, which does not seem to change it. But it is only constand at higher speeds. Intermittent at lower speeds down to 30mph +/-. It sounds like a bearing going bad to me, but I'm thinking it is the transmission. It has 250,000 miles on it (with a couple rebuilds along the way). I am hopeful someone else may have solved this dilemma and will advise.
Thanks.

did you checked your front brake discs?

Could you record the sound with pics of the dash so we get a feel of the speed, etc? I remember listing to to Click and Clack asking their callers to make the sound; it always helped me try to figure out their issue. Just a thought.
