The caps look to be the same as mine. My wheels are 14". I don't have trim rings just the centre caps. Mine have "Ford Motor Company" on them if memory serves me correct. Mine are in the trunk at the moment. Will dig them out when the car comes back from mechanic and post some pics. I found some Ford turbine alloy wheels from 1970's which are now on the car so the caps will not be going back on the car.

I like those wheels trim rings and caps!

If it were on Craig's List I could see the ad reading something like "$12,000 for Mach 1 that needs the roof pushed back up into the correct position, a new windshield, and some minor body work on the fenders and hood. Ran and drove good the last time I had it out. I'll be posting pictures later."

Did our UK friends notice this is in the UK? That's a cleveland under the hood. And the tranny, if automatic, will be a C6 most likely. I understand these two items can be a bit difficult to find in the UK.

I'm convinced this is the Saxondale car after some modifications from an interim owner:

The tailpipes, hood, honeycomb panel, and incorrect '73 front and rear bumpers have been swapped - and the taillight tints removed (almost - note the darker center lens), but both cars share the same incorrectly spaced side stripes (center stripe too wide, spacing to surrounding pinstripes too narrow), fender lettering with a recreation font that's bolder than original, and an original fender sticker (complete with "Mustang" below it) on the trunklid.

It has a British number plate Silver digits with black background "TGU 53M". The "M" shows the year 1973

The funniest thing though, if its the same car, is the sticker applied to the right hand side of the trunk "LETS ROLL"

No doubt it's really close, but I think there's no cigar in this case. The Saxondale car looks more like a cobbled-together, cheap knock-off of the squashed car, to be honest. Maybe it was a 'stunt double' or something. :chin:

I can't help but wonder if the 'Mustang' under the 'Mach 1' on the trunk lid wasn't some kind of European (UK) thing to help the average guy make the leap from Mach 1 to Mustang.

The center taillight lens being darker seems like a trick to turn the reflector/reverse light into a usable turn signal indicator, much like Steve (Pegleg) was looking into. The squashed car also has a legit tail light panel honeycomb trim, whereas the Saxondale car... not so much.

I think it would be fun to learn more about both cars and see if there was any relationship between the two, beyond someone essentially copying someone else's car for whatever purpose. :cool:

Aww... how sad. After reading both threads, I'm tempted to sign-up on that forum and offer condolences - for both Daisy and Shellz. The whole time I was reading the story of Daisy's demise, I kept thinking, "that car is SO restorable," and that those "engineers" were idiots because they had no idea how tough these old Clydesdales really are. So the front frame rails were a little tweaked - big deal, put it on a jig or get some new front frame rails (either repop or from a donor vehicle) and get it back together. Shellz fought a good fight, but it's really hard to stand up against that much opposition. Too bad the TV show folks couldn't lend her a little bit of support - it might've turned the tide in favor of restoration had they done so.

I know Shellz was bummed about losing Daisy, but she went with a '79 Pace Car Mustang - which I can kind of relate to because my first Mustang was an '82 hatchback.

Seeing all the care and support that poured in for Shellz and Daisy reminds me of how tight our little group is here as well. Just goes to show the quality and caliber of like-minded folks when common ground is established and friendships result.

Yep, you fellows are right - one of the guys with MOT information on IMCDB confirmed that they are two different cars. Sad story in both cases.

Still, the similarities are spooky - both wear what seem to be nearly identical (if incorrect) repop decal kits, have the same color, are (were?) '73 models, and are located in the UK. Even eerier is that Shelly's car endured a wreck as well.

Strange...

I will definately be keeping a look out for the one in the U.K wreckers yard. I tried to buy it but it was sold as a whole car. You will probably see it for sale on Ebay in the U.K in the coming months. Will post the advert when i see it
