Looking at putting a powered subwoofer in my 1973 coupe. Considering the type that sits under a seat, but not sure any will fit. If I put it in the trunk, how will the sound deadener I have installed affect the sound? Anybody else go this route?

This is my original mock up. Removed components and carpeted the wood. It slides in the trunk and butts up to the back seat. Works really well and doesn't take your whole trunk space up. Note I do not have a spare tire,

Sound deadening will certainly muffle the sound. With that in mind, depending on what head unit you are running you should be able to independently control the woofer to come on louder thus overcoming the issue. This is how mine is set up. I am running 2 12" subs in the trunk in a custom enclosure. Everything is set up for quick disconnect and removal for racing as well.

So the sound goes through the back of the rear seat with no problem?
