Thanks for the tips. I think the fender will be coming off to confirm the true identity. will keep you posted. Attached are a pic of the Tag, so you can see why I am confused.

Hi there!! congrats on the car and as Steve says, it is totally possible that your car just have an incorrect dash trim...
you can actually see another partial vin in the front cowl area, just where the heater is located, get it? In some cars this vin has bondo in it and if that´s your case, this is not going to be very helpful but if your car is still "virgin" down there, this VIN should clarify some things if you are able to read it...
