I am replacing my tail light assembly on both sides. It is pretty straightforward, but I’m getting hung up on the rubber gasket. It is not the same on both sides and I can’t tell for sure which side goes with direction. Or if it really matters.
I have looked all over google and YouTube. A lot of them show the gasket and talk about replacing it. But nobody talks about if it has a right and wrong way to do it.
Also, some use a weatherstrip sealant and some don’t.
Has anybody done this and remember if it matters which side goes which way?
Thank you for reading this.

Thank you for your reply. I did a poor job of asking my question. Yes, left and right are the same.
But the gasket itself is a bit different on each side of the gasket. I’m trying to determine which side of the gasket goes against the assembly, and which side of the gasket would then go against the opening.
Thanks again
