trunk light

brought a original trunk light, is it’s installed correctly and how do a Mercury switch work?

The wire has to be snaked through the inside of the trunk lid to a rectangular hole on the left side, towards the front (it is the hole where you have it mounted now, I think). The the socket and bulb mount inside the trunk lid. The hole is near the rear, close to the latch. When the trunk is opened the liquid mercury moves and makes an electrical connection. Chuck

It is supposed to be as pictured in a Fastback/Sportsroof - Coupe or Convertible might be slightly different...
