My car has the variable ratio power steering from the factory, its part of the competition suspension option. my power steering pump is leaking. Are the power steering pumps the same between standard and Varaible ratio? Looking for a replacement and places only show one pump for 71-73 or should I try to rebuild the original pump if there is anything special about it capacity wise,

I had this same question when working on mine. I found the answer on

I used these guys to do the rebuild on the parts when I found them. I haven't driven the car yet so I can't say if they are good or bad.

Two different power steering pumps were used on the 71 Mustang. The HBA-CG was used with the variable ratio gear box and the HBA-CF was used with a constant ratio gear box. The ID tag is located on the back of the pump as shown in the drawing below.
