Well it looks like I’ve decided to freshen up my engine over the winter as it was pretty much leaking from every gasket.  52 years old but only 50k on it.  Let’s see how it turns out,

Are just going to reseal the engine and drop it back in, or you planning to do more work on it?

 
I would advise against Fel-Pro "Print-O-Seal" gaskets, especially intake gaskets. They should be renamed "Print-O-Leak". Good luck with the project. What is the track car in the background? Chuck

The heat shield/ hot air stove is awesome! How many of those are still around?

It’s a J code.  I was really happy to see it on the car and am very pleased to see it can be restored as well!  We are practically neighbors,  would love to get together sometime and share stories and look at cars.

 
Engines torn down. A few Piston skirts had hairline cracks so it looks like it was a good time for a rebuild.

A few things have happened since the engine has been pulled.

- engine has been dropped off at the engine building for teardown and rebuild.  Teardown has been completed and nothing out of the ordinary was found.  Parts have been ordered for the rebuild and it should be together in 4-6 weeks.

- I’ve started detailing various engine parts,

- sand blasted the exhaust manifolds and painted them with Eastwood’s high temperature manifold paint.  It’s a little glossier than I would have liked but the color is amazingly close to the bare metal.

Next I’m using the 429 mega site to detail other engine and engine compartment pieces.

I also tackled various pieces that are semi gloss.  I used NPD spray can semi gloss which went on very well.  Only piece I wasn’t happy with was the crankshaft pulley as it had a fair amount of pitting.  
 

next week I’ll work on the fan, engine lift hooks,  exhaust heat shield and start on the air cleaner.

Mark, If the damper is not on yet can you tell me the number cast on the backside? Is it D0OE-6316-B2? Thanks Chuck
