WTB SEALER FOR CHASSIS PANEL SEAMS

Hello, I have been removing the carpet from my car and treating the floor and other parts for rust.   one of the things I have notice is there is a factory mastic type material that is used on the panels where seams join together, Inner rear wheel fenders,areas of the floor pan etc.

My sealer has become dry and brittle and lost its adhesion.

What is everyone using to replace the factory sealant?  Thanks

I have used the 3m Urethane seam sealer in the past. Use gloves. I used the caulk tube and then just did some general tooling by hand to ensure proper seal and adhesion and to get as close to factory look as I could.

I have always used Lord FUSOR seam sealer. Have had very good luck with it. Its not cheap but works great. I have also used the 3m in the past with good results.

So I managed to get down to a commercial Bodyshop paint suppliers this afternoon and get a tube of Urethane black sealant, the shop did have the 3m sealant but being in the UK the price difference was huge between the two products. He told me the Cheaper sealant was exactly the same stuff comparing it to Pepsi and Coca Cola.

So I have bought the Pepsi tube and will test it in due course.

I'm using 3M black urethane sealer 08367. It's not cheap but works really well, stays flexible, doesn't shrink or crack!
