Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I have an older Weiand dual plan. The front height from top of block to top of manifold is about 5 1/4". I also have a 1/2" spacer on it. I have a 1 1/2" drop down air cleaner and I just clear. Need to remember I have a 460.
Thanks! Stroked 460 here. How tall is your filter element? Where did you get the drop base air cleaner? I have an original GT-500 air cleaner I hope to use. My engine builder offered to surface plane the intake a bit but that is likely only going to get me 3/8" (may do it anyways). My intake front carb flange sits about 4 3/4" above the block. Looks like I might be ok.

Convertibles have an 18x18 plate between the seat pans under the car….might not work with big exhaust but a modified concept might…

One of the reasons that not as much is made for the '71-'73, as far as front end stiffening is concerned, is that the '71-'73 platform is substantially stiffened from the factory, if you check out how the '69-'70 Boss 302 front end used an additional lower a-frame connector piece going under the engine to tie the suspension in, you'll notice that on the '71-'73 cars, this is already done, welded in, not bolted, as part of the front clip, so we start out with a more stable front end than the earlier cars.
