Random Restomod Questions - Volume 1

The 70-71 M code is not a bad intake at all. I've seen people make 450+ hp with that intake with stock stroke. I would suggest making it a true square bore (primary side bore is smaller than secondary bore). I would use a heat insulating gasket of some kind. Depending on use, I'd consider...

Stanglover.... do you know this car? Do tell!

A very nice car and, assuming the mechanicals are as good as the appearance, worth the price, in my opinion. Chuck

    Front Suspension Springs and Shocks

Cutting 1/2 coil should not cause it to bottom out easily. Mine are cut 1/2 coil with no problems. Hemi's suggestion is a good one. I'd suggest checking the part number on the front shocks to make sure the travel length is correct. I've found incorrect travel length shocks that would bolt on...

    71 M code X pipe, H pipe or neither

How often are you at 6500 RPM and looking for an extra 3-5 HP? The H sounds better everywhere. Divorced duals sounds like an old man farting in a bath tub after drinking way too much beer. Do what you want. Chuck

351C 4V Spreadbore intake vs Squarebore intake

I'd pass on the 302C heads unless a true pro has ported them. The entire 4V heads are too big thing is an absolute falsehood (made up by Chevy guys to stop us from using them). Chuck

Re built C6 trans constantly shifting 3 to 2 back to 3 under slight load

Long shots; modulator pin length is wrong or governor has a problem. I am NOT an auto trans specialist .Chuck

351C 4V Spreadbore intake vs Squarebore intake

I find it hard to understand why the "2V is better for street use." tale is still alive. For optimal performance, getting the cam right is tricky on anything, so many variables. Chuck

351C 4V Spreadbore intake vs Squarebore intake

All OEM intakes are dual plane. As far as OEM intakes, the almost square bore intake from 70-71 is the best option. Casting number D0AE-L. Chuck

    The old Gal shines again!

Well done! It looks like a great show. As for the VW, it seems to be a classic case of time, skill, and money being combined with poor decisions. Chuck

Help Finding 1973 Mach 1 Seat Frame

I'd bet the bottom frame is even worse. Mine were torn and bent over in several places. I spent most of a day getting them straightened out, welded ground smooth, and painted. Chuck

    I'm enranged

How did you deal with the cams not being on the same intake centerline due to the length of the chain? Advance or ****** one or the other? Was one side ground differently?Chuck
