    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi everyone, update time. So I made aluminum ducting for the radiator.........consisting of a panel from the front valance to the lower radiator support, two side panels and a top cover Most of the ideas are from what was done on the team Trans Am cars and some of the independent racers. My own...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

This isn't a street car. Not saying I won't drive it around the countryside where I live to test it,but it gets trailered to and from the track. The front spoilers on TA cars are considered a wear item. They get bent and ground down.

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi everyone. The front spoiler is finished. I used 1/8'',5052 aluminum for the spoiler and all the brackets accept for the frame brackets for the struts. The struts are 3/8'' rod ends with aluminum adjuster sleeves. I just didn't think the stock plastic spoiler looked right or suited my taste...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi,nothing too earth shattering ,but things i wanted to do. I filled in the side marker lights and then had to think long and hard about if I wanted to completely remove the stamping for the fuel filler in the tail light panel. I looked at every factory backed TA car and found the majority had...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi everyone.Slow but steady progress. Sitting on top of the mock up engine is a Bud Moore Mini Plenum, the intake that was used in 70 and 71 on the factory TA Mustangs and when Moore ran with no Ford support. Had Ford build the 71 Mustangs for TA,this is the intake that they would have had. So...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Soooooo.........here's some of the fun that I've been having.........fixing doors. Long story short, each door is now 21.2 pounds lighter. I removed the crashbars, the front and rear of the inside of the door leaving the mounting holes for a door panel and I left the center to hold the interior...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Exhaust.......Check.....Hi again, here it is finished. Just as the collectors the pipes are 3 1/2'' stainless. At the 45s they sweep up just a bit and exit out the rocker. I'm taking a short break then taking the doors off so I can fix and modify them. And I'm going to swap the spots of the...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi again, here's the passenger exhaust tunnel all installed. I just have to do some grinding of the welds on the outer rocker so it looks nice then it's done. The tunnel is 18 gauge that I formed by hand using mallets, pipes and brute force, and I get to do it again for the drivers side.

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hey everyone,it's been a minute. I finished my stick conversion in my F150 about 2 weeks ago and it's a blast to drive now, glad I did it. So that means for 2 weeks I been working on the Mustang again. Here is where we are......I welded all the locking tabs on that bolt the header pipes and the...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi everyone,It's been a little while,I've been busy with the passenger side header. Just like the drivers side all for pipes are at 41 inches+/- a 1/16 or an 1/8''. Much more room on this side of course and I could see what I was building the whole length of each pipe. So this side isn't as...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Here's number 7 at 41 1/4''. I need to order more pipe and bends to do the passenger side. The picture with all the pipes is without the steering box installed.

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hello, more progress.I had to take the first two pipes I built and change the bottom halves of both of them to move them to the inside collector.Because I found out that I had no nice way of getting pipes 7 and 8 into the inside collector that I would be happy with. So after that I moved on to...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi,me once again.First 2 header tubes done.I'm doing the drivers side first, because that's the nightmare side.Tubes 5 and 6........not much room for 2 inch pipe with moving the engine back 2 1/2 inches and down 1 inch, but we'll get there. The headers are going to be equal length at 40 1/2.....ish...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi and thanks. I didn't do the dropped control arm on my car. When Ford redesigned the car for the 71 model, they moved the upper control arm down when they redesigned the engine compartment. It was to fit the Boss 429 in on the assembly line and to correct and improve the cars steering issues...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hello once again. I'm making headway on the headers. I'm building the drivers side first.I had to really shorten the flanges to get all of what you see to work, then make the pipe flanges round again as I was starting to get into where the pipe turns to square for the port,so that was fun. These...
