    1972 Mustang Coupe 302

Looks like you are sorting everything out and getting her back to a good reliable running condition. The engine compartment is looking great, it's amazing what a little hard work and paint will do. That is smart to replace the tank and sending unit, you don't want that crap from the old tank...

    Best Mufflers

I went with MagnaFlow Performance mufflers, 2.5" in and out with a customer 2.5" exhaust with H pipe and stainless works exhaust tips flared out to 3". I usually prefer a more growly type exhaust and have had good luck with these mufflers on my other cars. As far as I know they are the same...

    My 1972 mustang mach I

Nice looking Mustang! Your hood is like a cowl induction on top of a Mach hood, I have never seen one of those before.

    ’71 Mach 1 Resto Project

Thanks, I stumbled across the fact that they did buck tags on their website, when I bought my car it only had the corner of the original tag.

    ’71 Mach 1 Resto Project

Haha, I installed a convex mirror glass in the passenger mirror to help with blind spot, that from personal experience with my 73 can hide an 18-wheeler. After I was done I took a couple pics of the mirror on my tool box trying to capture the "objects are closer than they appear" etching. I...

72 Mustang rear shock mount busted?

That's what I did back in the day on my 73 Mach 1, I had air shocks on it and they both ripped the upper mounts. I welded two metal patches one over each of the mounting areas and drilled new holes and it held up well for the four years before I sold the car.

    1972 Convertible resto mod

I used shorties on my 71 only because I had long tube headers on my 73 Mach 1 and they scraped on speed bumps a lot. It still performed well on dyno, (about 430 HP / 450 torque) although to be honest we never did do a comparison with long tube headers to see how much power they rob.

    1972 Convertible resto mod

I want to start out clarifying, I am not an expert, especially on Mustangs. It looks to me that your pipes head upwards to the manifolds like most exhaust front pipes. They appear to start to head up toward the manifold outlets right in front of the equalizer pipe. If you intend to use long tube...

As they say, "grinder and paint makes you the welder you ain't" haha. You can dress those welds and prime and paint it up and it would look good.

Sold 1 owner 1971 Mach 1 for sale in SW Ontario, Canada

That's great that he was able to pass it on to a new adventure. I wish I knew about that car before I bought and started the restoration on my car, it looked like a really nice original car.

    Paint

I did the same as Sheriff. I painted it body color and then then applied spatter paint. I was told that Ford painted the whole body inside and out and assembled the car and then sprayed the spatter paint in the trunk. I used a black/gray spatter paint that I believe was correct but to me it...

Sold 14x7 Magnums - Genuine Ford - SOLD

SOLD I have the 14x7 Magnum 500s that came on my 71 Mach up for sale. They have matching 225/70R14 BF Goodrich T/As on them, the tires never lost a pound of air all through an almost three year restoration. They are older though, and I would recommend not using the tires. The wheels are date...

    ’71 Mach 1 Resto Project

I tried to cross a few things off of the punch list yesterday. I hooked up the detent rod and did an initial adjustment at the carb. I figured out the problem with the tach having stopped working and repaired the connection for that. Right now, all of the gauges, radio and clock are working...

    ’71 Mach 1 Resto Project

I bought them from crutchfield.com, I have been getting a lot of my audio equipment from them since I was a teenager, back when you ordered out of their paper catalog, LOL. I like to use the speaker baffles in car audio installs to help control the sound. I always cut a slightly larger than...

    ’71 Mach 1 Resto Project

Last night after work, I got the dash speakers assembled and installed, I am trying to get as much sound as I can from the three factory locations. I definitely do not want to cut any of the trim panels if I can achieve decent sound quality without it. I realize it will not be audiophile...

    Interior shell paint

None of the metal shows really, it is the same as your 73. I just wanted to spray body color like it would have been from the factory. My car has a a fold down seat so you can see some of the paint if you look closely around the seat latch but by design you shouldn't see any body color.
