Report from racing the Muscletang at the Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge at Road America this past weekend (6/30/2024)

Your correct. Dolensek goes in straight lines with his Cyclone and Johnson does left and right in his camaro. Johnson did a very cool build of a Cyclone for the Optima challenge.

Report from racing the Muscletang at the Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge at Road America this past weekend (6/30/2024)

Looks like it was very fun and my compliments to your driving skills. Thank you for sharing and driving the car in competition. Have you ever met Randy Dolensek? He has a Mercury Cyclone and a Camaro he has campaigned on the Optima circuit. He lives up there as well and has been a great...

    Worth keeping old parts?

I am in agreement that if you have the room keep them. You may want to go a different direction with the car in the future or if you do sell the next owner may want to go back to stock. I can also say that when I have acquired other cars it is good to have some parts to move onto the new one...

New addition to the stable - 78 Mercedes 450SL

No comparison in my opinion. Mach 1 is vastly better in every way. It does have the V8 and this thing wallows around on the road with velvet like suspension. You definitely do not feel the road like you do in the mustang. It does not help that mine is concourse and on bias-ply tires either.

New addition to the stable - 78 Mercedes 450SL

Picked up the Mercedes from my Dad two weeks ago in WI. He bought from a close friend of mine back in 2002. His wife's father had bought it new in 78 and when she graduated from college gave it to her. They used it as a regular driver for several years. It has 140K miles on it but the...

    Wrecked

I would have the discussion with the insurance provider. If you put up a good fight and they still say no you are still at the point you are right now. If they say yes and at least give the the insured value back us that money towards your next ride. You would need to buy back the car from...

    Interval Wipers

Many many years ago I learned AMC products in the 80's used the same governor and switch assembly. I lived in an AMC town so a quick trip to the junkyard and I had intermittent wipers. It is an easy conversion.

    Cloth inserts in seats

Many in the group (including myself) have used SMS. They did have bolts of true Comfortweave material if that is what you are trying to get. If you search comfortweave in the forum you should get many hits. One of them is a well written exchange on the loss of the manufacturer of comfortweave...

    Mustang Times photoshoot

While at the 60th in Birmingham and awaiting the receipt of my Concourse Grill Medallion I was approached by a gentlemen indicating he would like to photograph my car for an MCA Mustang Times story. He stated he had been at the MCA in Melbourne, FL last year and wanted to get a photoshoot but...

    Ponies in the Smokies 2024

Congrats on the win Ron. Well deserved for sure. Their trophies are really cool. Definitely a great conversation piece with folks. Hope you had a great time. I do agree though that the majority of the show is newer models. While I respect other years and I am thankful people are keeping...
