    FMX and AOD Shifters

Dang. Timed out during my reply. My kid came up to me and I was teaching him mergers and acquisitions. (He starts grad school next week) now my reply is gone. Thats why I don't have a camera or much spare time. I have a cheap $16 walmart phone but I do own Sprint and what was Clearwire stock...

    FMX and AOD Shifters

I've done both the AOD and the 4R70W. The 4R70w is the way to go. I've modified the linkage so both the shifter and the steering lockout rod both work perfect. You will need the use of a machine shop, a welder, and also understand the factory wiring for the neutral safety switch and reverse...

Figured out the door speaker problem

Too late. 5-1/4 is moved up to just in front of the window crank.Had to do a little work with my pick hammer and dolly to get it recessed in. Also had to narrow the plastic knob looking thing on the glass to clear the magnet. I'll buy another window stop and weld it to the original to add some...

Bad tire wear pattern ? and some other questions ?

You could press the races out if the bearing are toast and welded them in. Save the old races in your toolbox. They come in handy.

Seat belt thingy - what is it?

I use mine every day. Can't reach the radio with it on but better than eating the steering wheel in a crash. You get used to them if you use them all the time. I have new hardware to resew them into a modern retracting 3 point system but I get a kick out of driving the car everywhere so I...

Figured out the door speaker problem

As most of you know, our door speakers are an odd size and not manufactured. When new they were ok for the day but 40 years later they suck. I put 5.25 coaxials in a couple of years ago and they do well. I've put 3.5's in the dash (I drilled about 300 3/32 holes on both sides of the dash to...

    Just Another Excuse

There is a "shaft" between the oil pump and the distributor. Thats what you see when you look down the distributor hole. The factory put a clip on it which keeps it from coming out with the distributor. You may as well recurve it since you are that far into it...

    When do you speak up??

It's my daily driver. If it's stolen from my driveway tonight I'd just build another one. I don't really care what happens to it after I'm dead. Till then it keeps the mileage low on my other cars. I have a convertible that is Barret Jackson material. I already know the wife will sell it the...

    How much do you drive?

50 miles a day. In my 73 Mustang! 17mpg at 75mph Reason is because I also own a Mercedes E class and a 73 vert. My lowest cost per mile is in the fasback so thats what I drive. Had a cute girl honk and wave in a truck on the way home tonight.

    Ford AC-pump

Need to know if you plan on using R-12 Freon. Please don't use anything else. If so use the parrafinic mineral oil for R-12. If you are using a replacement refrigerant you will need to do more preperation. Make sure you flush out your entire system and add 10 ounces of oil directly to the sump...

    When do you speak up??

I'll admit. I'm a lurker and not a poster. Reason is because of all the bad information or lack of experience I see in the car forums I visit. I'll post good information from 35 years of experience working on these cars just to have someone right after me post completely wrong information...

    Fasten belt light

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you see a nice one and you need it you may want to grab it. To get to that light is a pain and you risk breaking it while getting it out of the donor. If you are replacing the panel it's in you better do the light at the same time.

    Fasten belt light

I've got about 6 NOS fasten belt lights in the drawer next to me. I put one on ebay about 4 years ago for $55. Some kid on another Mustang forum blasted me for "gouging" people for the lights. Rick at NPD stood up for me noting the repops for earlier years are $60. Haven't even tried to sell...

    1973 351c-2v egr solenoid(s) and hoses

Looking for the normally open solenoid that mounts on the valve cover bolt on the drivers side front. It's listed as #5 on the 3-14a diagram. http://www.mustangbarn.com/images/vacs/73%203-14A.jpg If I remember right there is a little ground wire attached to the solenoid. The solenoid on the...
