    Towing problem

Well after waiting a year to get into the restoration shop, the 73 is finally there. And not without problems. The shop has a tow company that they use and recommended, but after contacting Hagerty, where my insurance is through, they said they provide licensed tow trucks to use. Tow was...

    Frustration with Front end!

Will do!! my 4cyl limp down the street definitely doesn't count. Heading out of town for a couple weeks so hopefully when I get back I will have some good news waiting for me.

    Frustration with Front end!

Nada. Was given a 2 month lead time when I talked to the shop first week of February, and am still waiting. I followed up first week of April and I am still on the list, but I am assuming a couple of their projects are taking longer than expected so no room for me yet. I am getting anxious!

    Hoop Paint Question

Your knowledge has definitely helped me in my other threads! I was given some great advice for someone with fairly low knowledge on things. On the bright side I was definitely on the right track in my thinking before I asked the experts. I knew I needed to get it sanded down, but also am aware...

    Hoop Paint Question

Easy enough!! Much appreciated for some direction.

    Hoop Paint Question

In theory it won't get wet at all. It is under covered parking, and based on my weather stripping it most definitely won't see any weather. Once I sand it down, spray it with the converter and etching primer, am I okay to leave it like that and attempt the hood pattern? I heard that regular...

    Hoop Paint Question

I will be using an electric sander, going to have to wait to pull the trigger on a compressor setup until I have the space to store one. I exchanged a couple emails with SpaceAge here in AZ. So my plan is to get it all sanded down, hit it with a rust converter then self etching primer, then a...

    Frustration with Front end!

Total price with shipping and tax is just over $400. Maybe its because I am in AZ but looks like it would all ship from 1 location for $37.99

    Hoop Paint Question

Yep I knew I couldn't just leave it in primer, would definitely have to spray something on top of that to seal it. I've heard of that place, want to say my step dad bought some paint for his motorcycle there. Would 300 grit do the job or something a little more aggressive at first? I obviously...

    Hoop Paint Question

Looking for a little advice. Paint is the last thing on my list for my project since I know it comes with a hefty price tag, and am about to spend about 11k on the motor/tranny rebuild. I met up with a guy this weekend who restored a 66 Hertz, so I was able to pick his brain. I mentioned the...

    Frustration with Front end!

Sherrif41 put together a front end kit from RockAuto on a similar thread that I started last week for me. I was comparing the complete kits to buying everything separately. Only missing a couple things but a very complete list if you want to check it out. Also about 1/2 the price as opposed to...

    Front End Rebuild

Yeah thats about 1/2 the cost before factoring in the parts you didn't mention. I am assuming they aren't on board with me bringing in those parts based on the reaction I got when I told them I already hade Longtubes to go with the rebuild. "Can't be responsible if they don't fit, we recommend...

    Front End Rebuild

Well the 73 Mach 1 heads into the shop for a full motor/trans rebuild in the next few weeks. Just waiting on them to get the spot open. Seeing as she was last registered in 2015, I am preparing for them to tell me the front end needs some attention. I already knew this based on looking around...

    Fuel pump swap out

I did this a few months ago trying to diagnose why she wouldn't run, "blown motor", and probably took me 10x longer than it should have. Bottom bolt is easy to get to but the top one was a real PITA for some reason. I kept going back and forth from laying down, to trying to get it started from...

    1973 Mach 1 Marti

Yuma is definitely toasty!! I was cruising around a 78 F-150, no AC, for the past couple summers before I sold it to buy the Mach. There were some 118 days here in Phoenix, but luckily it’s a 15 minute or so drive home from work so I can suffer through it. In your experience would an aftermarket...

Yeah that would make sense, this is my rear end.

    1973 Mach 1 Marti

I appreciate it! Unfortunately 50 years in the Phoenix sun has done a number on the paint, but I’m not worried about the exterior right now. I will definitely consider a/c down the road. I’ll be hanging onto all the factory AC components when they are taken off for the rebuild, but will be going...

    Modern Driveline Quote

No I’ll absolutely take into consideration from people that have done it! I would be dumb not to. If that’s what recommended based on experience then that should probably be the route.

    Modern Driveline Quote

Yeah I would love to be able to cruise this on the freeway no probems without wringing out the RPM's. I assumed money wise it would be in that ballpark before I reached out so no surprises there.

    Modern Driveline Quote

For sure! That was my thought as well. Just don't have the knowledge of knowing which pieces to look for/junkyard find, so when I can afford it, its worth paying extra to know I have everything I need. I have been looking for a top loader for a while, thats what my dad had in his 71 when I was...
