Removing broken bolts: any special tips?

“A series of unfortunate event” for sure, but you have a great attitude about moving on and getting the problem resolved. Good luck with getting it done and getting your car back on track.

    Convert Top Molding

Thanks for reply David. Yes, I was thinking that it would be a good idea to put some kind of sealer in the holes since it is a flat area that water could collect and drip into the convert top well. I read your other post about your computer (I thought you have been quiet lately!) they can be a...

Anyone willing to take their car to Kirkland, WA for a day?

I may be able to help...depending on what is needed. I'm about 15 miles from Bellevue. My limitaion would be that my car is currently not a runner. However my seats are currently unbolted. If they just need the seat/bracket to measure then it may be possible. If they need to have the car to...

    Convert Top Molding

Not A T5, Thanks for reply. Yes I had to "phony up" (pun intended...) and buy the expensive replacement trim retainer blocks as I had two damaged blocks. The studs on the blocks that attach to the trim go through the body and the nuts thread on from the underside. I guess that is why I thought...

    Convert Top Molding

Hello all, I have a question about the special nuts that are used to attach the convertible top trim to the car. They are different on each side (see attached picture) I would guess that the wide end threads on against the body but wanted to confirm. It has been a while since they were removed...

    Original seat upholstery

Brett, Sorry for the confusion. To clarify, when I said that SMS was larger I was referring to the blue comfort weave substitution that they have. It is a true comfortweave but the holes and pattern are bigger so it couldn't be used side by side with original. Sounds like you are in luck with...

    Original seat upholstery

Ray, What they have is an embossed pattern on the fabric, not the true comfortweave that has the woven fabric that has holes which allows it to breath. On hot days it really makes a differnace to sit on!

    Original seat upholstery

Don C ;  Here is a sample of original comfortweave SMS has a substitute blue comfortweave fabric but the weave is larger then original and would be noticably different. In order to use it you would have to redo everthing. In my case I'm just looking to do one seat bottom. They haven't had the...

Wow! That is very impressive that you are doing this yourself! I have watched a lot of videos on the rebuild process for a C4 and doing a rebuild on any automatic  is not for the faint of heart! Switching to an AOD is on my wish list. Is there enough room for the new trans in the tunnel? are...

    Blue Comfortweave Fabric

Hello All, Bumping this thread, still on the hunt for this fabric to finish the bottom of the seat. I'm on the waiting list at SMS but he has not gotten any stock that matches in a long while. If anyone has any extra fabric or knows of another source would love to hear about it. Thanks!

    Window felt

Thanks all for your replies and info. It seems strange that rather then making the correct part the reproduction market once again chooses to make you cobb something together and charge you extra for it ($50 for the "supplemental kit"... really??). There is clearly demand for the wider felt but...

    Window felt

Hello all,  A while ago I ordered a set of window felt for our 73 convert. I ordered from a company called Repops. They were recommended as having good quality repro parts. When I got the kit and compared it to the original  parts there was a big difference in size on the felt that attached to...
