    Leaf spring install issue.

My son and I were starting to put the rear suspension back in the Mustang today, everything was going great until we got the new leaf springs in…the springs look like they are too short, the shackles are pointing towards the front of the car. I called Eaton and they said that I might be able to...

    Fredensborg's 1973 Mach 1 improvement/build thread "Sleipnir"

Been a busy couple weeks around the house, but my son and I got around to finishing up the center section cleanup, and we wire brushed and applied the rust encapsulation to the rear undercarriage. It isn’t perfect, but wow what a difference! Hoping to start putting the sway bar, shocks, and leaf...

    Welcome from Minnesota!

    Shocks are shot….now what??

Are you referring to these? Is this the bracket that was used to push the car down the assembly line?

What did you do to your car today?

I put on my new plates that finally arrived in the mail today…was tough to come up with a custom plate that wasn’t already taken. I still prefer my original 1971-1973 Minnesota plates, but at least I’m legal now.

    Ugly Undercarriage

According to Amazon, my disco ball should be here by Monday....shag it is!

    Ugly Undercarriage

Yes it is, there’s usually a few pieces of cardboard under it for oil leaks under the engine bay. Probably wouldn’t hurt to put cardboard under the whole thing though, good idea!

    Ugly Undercarriage

You are quite right that this car’s days of being driven in anything but beautiful weather are basically over. It lives in my heated, but not air conditioned garage all year but it does get pretty damn humid in Minnesota, so I just worry about this getting worse over time. How big of a pain in...

    Ugly Undercarriage

Yeah, I didn't even know what that line was till I read your build thread. A couple years ago I had a shop put in a new gas tank, I should have done it myself but I had it in the shop because I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't stay running...they cleaned out and freshened up the entire fuel...

    My ‘73 Mach 1

Ha! Small world! I grew up right next door to you in **** Rapids, my mom still lives there and I'm in the area often enough. I'd love to meetup sometime! Putting my rear suspension back together this week, then I'll need to get it out pound some pavement.

    Ugly Undercarriage

And therein lies the rub. I'm just looking to sharpen it up a bit under there for now, not looking to go crazy and really tear into it. Someday I'll tear this car completely down, but that time has not yet come. I want to enjoy this car with my son for the next few years first. Does this metal...

    Ugly Undercarriage

Looks like a good product, if I were to apply this it wouldn't interfere with any potential repainting of the car would it? I assume this would come off in a chemical bath easy enough right? Do you just go hog wild with it and spray everything under there? I still have some blue paint on my...

    Ugly Undercarriage

So as I have been spending a lot of time under my car lately cleaning and reprinting my axle housing, I can’t help but notice the now ugly contrast between my clean rear end and ugly undercarriage.    Now I’m not doing a complete restoration at this time, and honestly…who the hell besides me...

    Fredensborg's 1973 Mach 1 improvement/build thread "Sleipnir"

Got the rear end all painted up and looking decent.. will probably try and clean up that center section a little bit more, but overall I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. Gonna start putting it back together tomorrow.  I appreciate everyone’s contributions to my thread here, I’ll...

    Fredensborg's 1973 Mach 1 improvement/build thread "Sleipnir"

I know this probably isn’t the correct way to do this, but I have no interest in completely removing my 9” to properly clean and detail it to a like new condition at this time…Minnesota winters are too long, and every day the car is in pieces is another day we can’t drive it. This car is a...

    Fredensborg's 1973 Mach 1 improvement/build thread "Sleipnir"

It’s a Mach 1. My wheels will completely cover the drums, so I’m not too worried if it burns off. I will have to get some satin black for the axle housing, I had no luck finding the black zinc coating that Aus73Mach1 mentioned. I’m just hoping I can get the axle clean enough so the paint will...

    Fredensborg's 1973 Mach 1 improvement/build thread "Sleipnir"

Off to Wisconsin Dells for a few days with the kids tomorrow, but I got the drums primed and painted before taking off. Gonna detail and paint that 9” when we get back.
