I've had both on my '72; H-pipe with stock manifolds and X-pipe with long tube headers. I prefer the sound of the H-pipe and will eventually replace the X-pipe. It's purely a personal preference thing, though.

Make sure your hose to the vacuum modulator is connected.

The FMX is a good transmission. Hopefully you'll be able to find someone to rebuild it for you. If not, you could always rebuild it yourself; they're not that complicated. Just have a good service manual, a clean workspace, and lay out the parts in the order they come apart. Clean everything...

I thought we were just listing Mustangs. I've had a bunch of other cars, trucks, and motorcycles. They don't provide the excitement or enjoyment like a Mustang does!

That's too bad. I guess a lot of the classic Mustangs had been to the 60th Anniversary event in Birmingham and the Boss Reunion in Pittsburg. Someone should host a 71-73 Mustang gathering in the central US. I'd drive to that.

Seems to be coming together for you! You were right to bleed the MC, then bleed it some more. It can be a challenge to get all the air out of an MC.

I'm sure you know this but be sure to get one for the deluxe interior. The ones used with the standard interior are different.

Driver 73 Mach 1s range in price from $5-7,000 on the low end to $35-38,000 for very nice examples, based on a cursory look at various listing sites. There are some listed much higher but their ads seem to linger on the sites. The market is improving some, however.

I have had Mustang Market door panels on my car for a couple decades now. They are nice and fit well, though they take some time a nerve to do all the necessary trimming and fitting around the door release opening to get the door release trim piece to fit. One member on here some time back...
