1973 Convertible Project: Undercoating Decision Time

Sincere condolences, Steve. I was just visiting my 94-year-old dad in Tucson this past week. Time well-spent, though I know the opportunities for visits are running out.

Lower cowl patch from underneath, how I did it!

Nice work and I'd say your welding skills were just right for your repair! This will help someone else take on a cowl repair.

Accidentally cut the metal fuel line

That should work but you should use fuel injection hose clamps. @Stanglover will educate you 😉

What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

Never a 70, but a 69 Boss 302 and a couple 69 Mach 1s. I would've liked another Boss but I can't justify how expensive they are, at least for my budget. Besides, the AC in this car will be nice through Texas summers!

What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

Well, yesterday I went to Phoenix and bought an M-code '70 Mach 1 and today I trailored it home to San Antonio. Now to get some sleep!

    Is this part structural?

You're probably okay leaving them off but you lose the bump stop. Might be better to have the bump stop than risk bottoming the shock or overextended lower suspension components.

Wow. I can't imagine having the patience to let it go so long. Hopefully you get some real progress soon.

Which orientation the door panel clips should be fitted?

Hi Ben, The orientation will become apparent when you start to fit the panel to the door. On mine, the openings in the panel for the clips were squared off at one end and rounded at the other. I placed the clips in so they seated against the squared off end. If yours doesn't have this simply...

Front End Alignment Specs vs Behavior (Return to Center)

Yep, I don't see anything out of the ordinary. Yes, you may get a slight change in settings once the car is driven, but they should be negligible. Your setup is probably fine, though you do need to make sure your plates and stands are all four level with each other. There is an art to...

Front End Alignment Specs vs Behavior (Return to Center)

@basstrix , My days of doing front end alignments are more decades ago than I like to think about. The tools and technology have advanced since then but the geometry remains the same. We all know caster is set to keep the car going straight down the road and ease steering effort. Caster...

PRIMER for e-coated floor pans ?

Keep in mind most primers other than perhaps epoxy primer will not provide protection. Primers are basically meant to provide adhesion between the paint and the surface, though some provide additional benefits such as high-build primer. If you're looking for protection you will want to spray a...

    Prep prior to paint.

I was just thinking, my Traeger smoker can maintain 650°F. Not sure if the smoke would affect the finish but low smoke pellets like post oak may work.
