Double check the flare for hair line cracks.

Check Rock Auto if you want to replace it. The last vacuum cannister I bought was $30.

On mine, the small aluminum bracket next to the tank came with it. The larger aluminum angle bracket was fabricated to pickup existing holes in the radiator support. The hose clamp was from Rock Auto.

Stanglover is correct in that the system will function fine without the overflow tank. You will just end up with a little less coolant and more air in the system. That said, I am not sure if this is more of an issue in cross flow radiators vs vertical flow radiators.

I believe the function of the overflow tank is to allow the coolant to expand into the tank when hot and return to the radiator when cool. This process eliminates air pockets in the radiator. The function of a surge tank is similar but it is under pressure and upstream of the pressure relief...

You might consider adding a overflow vent in the tank to protect from over pressure in the radiator and heater core. See attached pix of my installation.

Leeds I believe Leeds makes a new unit that is bolt in.

Good 14" trim rings are VERY hard to find. They are usually damaged during removal or installation. I use a wide fiberglass trim tool to remove them and a soft rubber mallet or wood block to install them.
