71-73 Non A/C Power Steering Setup

Thanks Stanglover for the info. It seems like these are very hard to find and expensive. Will just go without it for now until one turns up. Was considering a cooler from another Ford car or truck to use also. These are less $$$ but will require some creative attachment/placement. Has anyone out...

71-73 Non A/C Power Steering Setup

Thanks Giantpune for your response. I see a lot of 71-73 mustangs without the cooler. I read somewhere that Ford installed the cooler if the car had the competition suspension package which included a larger and different power steering unit. Has anyone heard of this? Also anybody else seen any...

71-73 Non A/C Power Steering Setup

Hi everyone. Such a great forum for all of us 7173 fans! Will soon be reinstalling my '73 verts #351c 4V motor that I have just had rebuilt. Took several months to finish as many Howards Roller Cams were back ordered until September. While waiting for the engine I had time to consider whether to...

Speaking of Equine machines and our beloved first generation pony cars...

Great story! I remember that day too. Lived near Saratoga N.Y. so my whole family was into horse racing and we watched it in amazement. Was only a year older than you and definitely a mustang fan. My dad had a '65 convertible followed by a '73 Grande. Drove those cars all over the place. Loved...

    Ford Carlisle

Hi Mac, I did initially think it was Grabber Lime Green so that was what I was looking for on the field. But when I lifted the cover it was yellow so I figured I just saw it wrong in your post pic. Grabber Lime is a very cool color by the way! Maybe you will bring your car some day? Met a guy...

    Ford Carlisle

Hi Mac. Thought that might of been your car under the cover. You mentioned you were going and I thought you might of brought your car. It looks like you have a yellow Mach from your post pic. Maybe see you next year!

    Ford Carlisle

Was there on Saturday morning and met Grande73. Very nice car! Was looking to meet Mac but he was away from his car which had the car cover still on. I did lift the cover slightly to check the color and saw it was his '71 Mach. Came back about an hour later but still covered. Next year! The...

reinstall a/c or save parts and leave out.

Good to hear the various opinions. Such a great forum for 71-73 owners. Thanks all ! I still have time to consider what to do as it is one of the last steps in putting the engine compartment back together.

reinstall a/c or save parts and leave out.

Thanks Sheriff41 and Spike for your thoughts! The car was sold new in Texas by the way so I bet the a/c was a blessing! I am leaning towards leaving it off with those great storage points.

reinstall a/c or save parts and leave out.

Would it be detrimental to the compressor etc. to leave it off the car and reinstall down the road? In other words will it be as functional in the future if stored or is it prone to deterioration off the car? Best way to store if any?

reinstall a/c or save parts and leave out.

Planning to remove the engine in my 73 convertible (with a/c) to examine the bottom end due to low oil pressure. The shop owner doing the work suggested leaving the a/c out of the car when the engine goes back inand plugging the holes in the firewall etc. The a/c unit is functional and blows...

    Ford Carlisle

Hi Mac, was planning on taking my 73 convertible since it will be 50 just two weeks later on the 15th but the engine developed oil pressure issues and what sounds like a bad main or rod bearing noise so it is in the shop for a tear down and unfortunately won't be ready in time. Disappointing...

This car actually looks like it's almost worth the money. But why did they remove the rarest part of the car?!

kevken, I too have a special order black 73 Q code convertible. It has a white interior and top. Build date June 15th so close to end of production. Ordered by a Ford executive who went on to start his own dealership outside Dallas in Carrolton. Black looks so sharp! I posted pics and the Marti...
