Help with replacement of car radio and speakers

Well I can't take it anymore! My '72 has the original AM/FM radio. The aftermarket speakers, previous installed in the doors and rear package tray, are basically toast. I am a quasi audiophile who loves listening to music wherever I may be. Currently I can get but one or two stations and...

    Front Suspension Refresh?

If your not familiar with this I would highly recommend finding a competent shop to do the repairs. To do it properly, start to finish, requires some tools for the job, knowledge, and experience. This isn't one of those times to do "on the job training". You will save yourself a lot of grief...

Keystone Stang may be throwing in the towel

Sounds like a very aware decision on your part. You likely saved yourself a lot of money & grief. I wish you good luck on finding a better specimen to work on and have fun with.

    71 Mach 1 - Novice Restoration

I like your GM ride as well. I have a racing friend in town that is a Pontiac maven. So I learned to like that brand hanging around Bob at the races and at home. Good luck with the project. When you "finish" it (they never are LOL) you will have something to be proud of the rest of your days...

71 Sportsroof/Mach1 On EBay Had Full Vinyl Roof..6hrs to go

The lack of bids so far kinda says it all. The seller is smoking too much weed if he thinks he can get $1800 for this rust pile. Then again what was it? A fool and his money are soon parted.

    351 Cleveland Valve Cover Gasket

Just wanted show I put my money where my mouth is (except when my foot is in it). Got the Fel-Pro #1682 gaskets for Ford SVO Yates heads today from Summit. As you can see they fit the factory heads just fine. They will work nice with my Moroso steel valve covers as well! Thanks for the heads...

    351 Cleveland Valve Cover Gasket

It's not an exact comparison but I've used the same type of Fel-Pro gasket on my 302 steel oil pans in the past. They keep you from over-tightening the bolts and seal very well. Haven't been able to find this type of pan gasket for a 351C so far. Just ordered the 1682s a bit ago.

    351 Cleveland Valve Cover Gasket

Well egg on my face! In my defense I was looking for these specifically for 351 Cleveland application. Ironically I ran a SVO 351 with Yates heads in Super Gas. It was quite a while ago to be sure. But the SVO Yates heads used the same gaskets as stock 351Cs. They may appear to be expensive...

    351 Cleveland Valve Cover Gasket

In my experience the cork did better. I used to put a very light coat of white grease on the head side when I first installed the covers.

    351 Cleveland Valve Cover Gasket

On my race cars I had the valve covers off a lot to check valve lash. Found the best way was to glue the Fel-Pro gaskets to the valve cover with 3M Weather Strip Adhesive. AKA "gorilla snot". It would last a long while. Wouldn't be a bad idea to torque the bolts to be sure they are tight...

Help with properly claying paint before polishing.

Okay all you Mavens of detailing here's my dilemma . Some say to use a plastic sandwich bag to feel for contamination in paint. When I do so the paint feels rough even after some claying. Others say to use a nitrile exam glove to feel for contamination. With the glove I feel a lot less...

    Best Car Cover?

Sounds like you need to call California Car Covers today!! Seriously! Have a chat with Jim DeFrank Sr. or Jr. If the plastic is working for you that's great. There has been a good deal of innovation in the permeability of plastics. That said, I still believe a quality cover is the best...

    Best Car Cover?

They have may have been expensive but they certainly weren't high quality if they let that much dust in after only a year. Unless that is, you have sandstorms in Delaware that I'm unaware of. LOL Plastic covers are a bad idea. They trap moisture and don't breathe like a quality cover. I...

    Best Car Cover?

I've had four car covers from California Car Covers. The first one I bought over 35 years for my 5.0 Mustang ago is still on it today! It's been on and off hundreds of times. A bit dirtier and oil stained but still doing the job. Whatever you do don't cheap out on one. Get the best they make...
