Getting ready for the tear down... what to do before?

A million pictures during disassembly  ---  Oh Yeah !!  Can't take too many. they will save you alot of headaches. Baggies and then tag everything no matter how small will also be of help.  Personally, I find it easier to do a good restoration with a total tear down, but that is not always...

    Who does this?

I have personally replaced the trunk floor in my 71 Vert. It is difficult and time consuming. I had to replace the rear taillight panel so I was able to get the new floor inside that way.. I do not think I could have gotten it in any other way. Time, patience, and a good welder are your friends...

    Evans High Performance Waterless Coolant

What type of gas do you run?

I run 91 octane without ethanol in all my cars. I have had no issues at all. Even my chain saws get the good stuff. Ed

    New to forum (and Mustangs!)

A very close welcome from the Albuquerque area. Just a friendly FYI. There is no such thing as a Mach 1 convertible, but there should have been. Looks to be in very nice condition already. What are your plans?  Good Luck.   Ed Raver

    Torsion bar questions

I sincerely wish you luck while replacing the trunk floor. I have done only one on my 71 vert and it was a difficult task for sure. I removed my tail light panel to even get it into place. It needed it anyway. If you do remove the tail light panel be sure to secure the distance between the two...

    trunk lid alignment/adjustment

I didn't have alot of trouble adjusting the deck lid on my 71 vert. I borrowed the neighbor's son and put him in the trunk. Pushed down to where the lid fit and had him tighten the bolts. Worked like a champ and he got a kick out of it too. Ed Raver

    Performance Part 302 engine

Barnette468 is correct. At .060 overbore you will have overheating problems and some spare parts when it is over. Better aftermarket blocks are readily available and not all that expensive. Its like a good foundation on your home.    Ed

    4 post lift purchase

BendPak 9000 4 post portable around the shop on casters if needed. Both kinds have their advantages. Remember not to let your suspension droop on these cars as it is rough on the shocks. Ford made a tool for this, which is just about impossible to find. I made my own out of desperation.  My only...

What is the real truth on PDB booster?

As I stated on another question: I went with a hydroboost on my 71 vert. A bit complicated but it sure does work great. Ed

    Rear axle upgrade/swap

A 9 inch rear end from a 69 or 70 Mustang will bolt right in but you have to use 69 or 70 axles. This results in a narrowed rear end and you can then use a wider tire if desired. This gives you an extra 3/4" on each side.  3:25 is a good choice and a TruTrac is another good choice. I have done...

    G'day from Australia

Love the white interiors, but I might be prejudice. That green is a cool color too, but with the ram air it is outstanding. Welcome from New Mexico. Ed gif upload 20mb

Stripping off the Ameron (Imron) paint

I also think you are referring to Imron paint. Very tough to remove but aircraft stripper will do it. Messy but effective. Post some more pictures and data. There are alot of helpful folks here who can save you on the learning curve, and money. Welcome from Albuquerque, NM Ed

I'm not familiar with that car. Sorry, no help. Ed

Sound off if you have a convertible

You have a sharp eye for details. I removed the wood grain by soaking it in lacquer thinner and then polished it by hand. I had to do something since they were pretty filthy from setting outside for 12 years. It was left right next to a large barn but when the house sold the PO did not take it...

Sound off if you have a convertible

The hood scoop is functional. It is just a Boss429 copy. When I got this car it was a rusty bucket of junk. My introduction to body panel replacement but it was very complete. I have done everything except the painting myself. Stripped it down to nothing, soda blast, and then the reconstruction...
