    Suspension Overhaul

Yeah I'd be curious as well to see what the exact differences are. If anyone has a junk mustang disc brake spindle they'd be willing to part with, I'd be happy to do an in depth comparison.  Current alignment specs are the same as yours. Getting 5 degrees of caster was a little tricky, but we...

    Low RPM Drivability Issue / 1973 351C

I'd recommend running a PCV system over just having breathers. The pcv will actually pull out the combustion gases and carbon that builds up in the crankcase; whereas breathers only relieve the positive pressure built up by blowby. Over time if the car is driven alot, that nasty stuff with get...

    Suspension Overhaul

Actually I hadn't considered another possibility, which is that the SoT upper control arms could just be longer.

    Suspension Overhaul

Ok had to wrap my head around this for a while, but I think I've got it figured out. The only way you could have more clearance than me on BOTH the fender and ball joint side is if: A - The Granada brake rotor "hat" is thicker than the Wilwood one, which pushes the wheel out further to the...

These are actually just Granada brake rotors and calipers.

Ok here is what I came back with. Not to scale - these are just images I found that I could overlay the measurements on.

    Suspension Overhaul

That is interesting. I'll try to get some measurements on the Granada spindle this afternoon. Curious to see how it compares to the stock mustang disc spindles. And thanks for the heads up on the spacer for the rear wheels.

    Suspension Overhaul

Test fitted the new wheels and no binding or scrub! They do seem to fill the fenders out better. With 0 backspacing on these there is about 15/16" between the outside lip of the fender and the rim itself. The old wheels had about 1 1/2" between the rim and fender. They do NOT clear the SoT...

    Suspension Overhaul

Thanks for catching that. I had originally planned on getting a set of continental DWS06 tires but I guess I never updated my notes with the weights for the michelins

    Suspension Overhaul

Ok I did actually have some footage that kind of illustrates the rear axle movement with the leaf springs. Its hard to tell, but you can see that it was swaying back and forth about 1/2" during hard cornering. Another thing I noticed is just how bad these tires are for handling. I love the...

    Suspension Overhaul

I'll have to check through my footage and see if I have anything that would show that.

    Suspension Overhaul

Got some video footage with my gopro of before and after the install. You'll have to excuse the mess that is my exhaust - have it temporarily rigged up until I can take it to a shop to have tailpipes made. Its amazing how much the housing moved around with the leaf springs. The coilovers...

    Setting idle speed

You're looking for highest vacuum reading as you turn the idle mixture screws in or out. With a mild or stock cam, the reading should be relatively steady somewhere between 12-20 in/hg. If the gauge is bouncing all over the place, you will have to address what's causing it to do that before you...

    Suspension Overhaul

Pinion angle is set! Just took it for a cautious test drive, and everything seemed great. One note though, in the instructions, you are supposed to weld in a clearance box in the trunk. It has you doing this before you set pinion angle. I would recommend doing that AFTER setting pinion angle, as...

    Suspension Overhaul

Ok everything is bolted in and now begins the long and arduous process of checking clearances, binding, and setting angles. Unfortunately my passenger side exhaust tube was binding so I had to cut it off at the muffler. Will have to get a new tube made and routed over the axle. Using a magnetic...

Hot Rod Power Tour 2021 - Journal

Looks like someone made summit's Instagram post 👀

    Suspension Overhaul

Used a sawzall to cut off the leaf spring perches and deburred with a flap disc. The CPP brake lines fit pretty easily with no major reshaping. I think I will straighten out the driver's side tubing section, but it's nothing major compared to other brake line kits I've purchased.

I'm not usually a fan of low riders, but that Lincoln is NICE

    Suspension Overhaul

Ok finally moving again on this project. Got the housing back with the brackets welded on. The tabs for the third link are just tacked on right now so that I can verify their position and fitment before filling in the rest of the welds. Went ahead and test fitted everything to make sure there...

    Ugly Undercarriage

Ditto on the Eastwood encapsulator. I recently removed my rear suspension and fuel tank, and did some basic prep work/degreasing before applying it. Obviously the surface texture isn't great without some kind of blasting prep, but my car is not a show car by any means. All I was looking for was...
