    Fabrice's 429CJ 71 project

Impressive! You could literally publish "How To" manuals. Very well detailed.

    Her 72 Mach 1

Just looked up the part number of the exhaust tips: D1ZA-5203-AB. Found some interesting info on the 429mustangcougarinfo site. Both tips have that part number. Are they really worth as much as I saw someone asking for them (650)? If so, that is crazy. Are they stainless?

R code sportsroof-how many are left? Any owners on the forum?

That's the one and it is now white/black. I was told it was used as a promotional car by Ford and the executive bought it for his son, who tragically passed in 1980 and there it sat in that carport until this last summer. It only had 11700 some odd miles on the odometer. Looking at the Marti...

    Her 72 Mach 1

Disclaimer: I'm new to restoring Mustangs, so I had a hard time with coming up with an offer. I've seen some for sale and at the time that I was talking to the seller, the number that popped in my head for one that needed to be restored was 300.  I got excited when I saw a picture of it and...

R code sportsroof-how many are left? Any owners on the forum?

I saw one last weekend. It underwent a color change from its original dark green to an owner preferred white this year. I don't know if it is known on this site.

    Her 72 Mach 1

You know the car. I personally wouldn't have strayed from how it was originally built. For me coming from my personal knowledge of all things Camaro, I was surprised that a person in possession of something special like it would customize it to his personal tastes. To each his own. I guess.

    Potential purchase

I saw the ad for this Mach 1 and thought it was a real good buy for the asking price. I'm no expert but I'd be happy to be at that price level when we are done restoring ours, we'll likely be 5 grand higher. It reads like an honest ad and an original body panel car with no rust is getting very...

    Her 72 Mach 1

A side trip to the parts trip was a visit to see my former boss, who retired 3 years ago. He has owned a 1966 Shelby GT 350 Mustang since 1976. He bought it back then for $800 and performed a complete restoration. I saw pictures and heard stories over the years, but never seen it in person. Yes...

    Her 72 Mach 1

A 960 mile round trip in 39 hours was made this last weekend. Which is epic for our family with two kids 5&3 and two dogs.  It took two weeks to put the trip together and of course we left an hour late and had to make many stops along the way and arrived only two hours behind schedule. We...

    Her 72 Mach 1

Mach 1 Parts Adventure begins in one hour! A road trip with my wife, kids and dogs to gather parts that we will (eventually) need for my wife's Mustang. I am looking forward to spending time with my family on the road. I am sure there will be stories to add to the restoration story of "Her 72...

    Original seat upholstery

From the phone conversation that my wife had today with SMS, they are out of the black/silver "comfortweave". But they still have ALL black comfort weave. From the  phone coversation my wife had with SMS we will be going with SMS for the seat upholstery. Expensive, but if we are doing the...

    Original seat upholstery

Just got a call from the seller. The upholstery shop he made a deal with decided to charge more once he brought his seats to the shop. Like more than double their original quote. He's hot enough to fry an egg on at this time. Sounds like he is a real honest, up front gentleman on the phone. I...

    Original seat upholstery

Thanks! That is our concern. I see that you are in Ohio. The green seats spent its whole life in Michigan under a carport since the early 80's, up until this year. So, similar climate to your car, if yours is an Ohio car.

    Her 72 Mach 1

Here is a picture of the bottom side of the hood that is currently on my wife's Mach 1. It is not the original hood and I think it is a NOS hood and not a reproduction. Previous owner had a battery "mishap". No other major internal corrosion between skin layers. Hope we can save this hood...

    Her 72 Mach 1

Yes it was riveted. Yes we will need 71-72 style hardware.  I need to make an official shopping list with you. The list is almost too long to recall it all from just memory.  Thanks

    Original seat upholstery

My general thoughts as well. But thank you for the reply.  Just hoping the original seat upholstery will hold up. We don't want to lose out on an opportunity on purchasing available comfortweave. Once it's gone, it's gone. SMS is out of the comfortweave for the black upholstery as the seller of...

    Original seat upholstery

This is the original color for our Mach 1. This is an option as opposed to buying all new fabric from SMS. We were committed to going "new" and even had the fabric samples sent to us from SMS. Buying used will save us money on the restoration. But if the original upholstery is not going to last...
